SpicyChat vs Elyxia 2026: Free NSFW Tier Tested for 30 Days

SpicyChat is the free-tier king for unlimited NSFW chat. Elyxia trades volume for memory and image gen. Both run uncensored. Here's which actually fits your use case.

SpicyChat's pitch is simple: free, unlimited, NSFW, no verification queue. That's it. For a chunk of users, that's all they need, and SpicyChat is the right answer. I ran a SpicyChat account in parallel with my Elyxia daily driver for 30 days to figure out where each stops being the better pick.

If you're skimming this looking for an upfront recommendation: SpicyChat wins on raw volume of free messages. Elyxia wins on everything that compounds over time — memory, image gen, character coherence. Which one you should use depends on whether you're a casual or a regular.

I'm the founder of Elyxia, so calibrate accordingly.

If you send 200+ messages a day and don't care about images or memory, SpicyChat's free tier beats anything we offer at any price. If you want a relationship that develops, those 200 messages on SpicyChat will feel the same as the first 20 by week three.

Where SpicyChat wins

Unlimited free messages

This is the headline feature and it's real. The free tier on SpicyChat doesn't throttle you. No daily cap, no "buy credits" pop-up at message 50. You can chat as much as you want, forever, for $0.

The reason we can't match this: we run on Venice and OpenRouter, both of which charge per call. To offer truly unlimited free messages we'd either need to be ad-supported (we're not) or burn investor money (we don't have any). The cap is a function of the cost structure, not a hidden upsell.

If you're a high-volume free user, SpicyChat is built for you in a way Elyxia structurally isn't.

Languages and group chat

SpicyChat shipped 12-language support in April 2026 and added group chat features the same release. If you want to roleplay in Spanish, German, Korean — they cover those officially. If you want a scene with two AI characters talking to each other and you, group chat does that.

Our chat is English-only and 1-on-1. The chat model (Venice Uncensored) handles other languages reasonably in practice, but the UI and prompts are English. Group chat isn't on our 30-day roadmap.

Character catalog volume

SpicyChat has ~300K user-submitted characters. Some are amazing, most are average. If you like to browse and pick something new every session, they have the volume.

We curate harder — 170 public characters with deeper individual builds. Different strategy. For someone who wants depth-per-character over volume, our side; for someone who treats characters like a Netflix catalog to flip through, theirs.

Where I think Elyxia wins

Memory state, again

I keep coming back to this in every comparison because it's the single biggest UX gap in the AI companion category. SpicyChat handles memory like most platforms do: recent message context passed to the LLM, hope it holds. After 50-100 messages, characters drift, forget backstory beats, and the conversation feels reset.

We built a per-conversation state machine: affection / trust / arousal / respect / mood values persisted in postgres, fed to the LLM every turn, with behavior gates that unlock thresholds. After 200 messages with a SpicyChat character, you've had 200 surface conversations. After 200 with an Elyxia character, you've actually built a relationship that the AI references back.

It's not visible in screenshots. It shows up in week three.

Image generation built in

SpicyChat image gen is limited on free and requires a paid add-on for serious use. The image quality is OK — typical Stable Diffusion derivative output — and the integration into chat is bolt-on.

Every Elyxia character has images built in: per-character style preset (Anime, Cinematic, Gothic, Fantasy Art, etc.), automatic mid-chat selfies when the scene calls for it, on-demand image requests. Runs on Venice Chroma at $0.01/image, no separate token economy.

For NSFW specifically — the chat model and image model are both uncensored at the model layer, and the style preset makes the visual identity consistent. A gothic vampire character generates images that look gothic, not a generic photoreal woman with fangs added.

Free tier is actually evaluable

SpicyChat's free tier is unlimited, which is good. But it's also light on the premium features (image gen, advanced models). So the free tier doesn't give you the full product experience — you get unlimited chat at the base model only.

Our free tier is capped at 50 messages/day, but those 50 messages run on the same model as Pro, include image generation (on a smaller daily allowance), and let you test all the features that matter. You can decide if the product fits your use case in a week.

Different tradeoffs: SpicyChat optimizes for volume on free, we optimize for completeness.

One persistent style per character

This is a small thing but it matters. On SpicyChat, character art is whatever the original creator uploaded. Generated images in chat (when available) don't reliably match that art style.

On Elyxia, the imageStyle field on each character drives every image rendered for them. A character set to Gothic will stay gothic across every selfie, scene, and chat-driven image — for the lifetime of that character. Visual identity stays coherent across hundreds of generations.

It sounds minor. After 30 days it makes a noticeable difference.

Pricing breakdown (real numbers, May 2026)

SpicyChat:

  • Free: unlimited messages on base model, limited image gen
  • True Supporter: $9.95/mo — better models, more images, no ads

Elyxia:

  • Free: 50 msg/day + streak bonus + 25 Elixir on signup, basic image allowance
  • Pro: $9/mo — 500 msg/day, expanded image allowance, all features
  • Unlimited: $15/mo — no message cap, large image allowance, priority queue

For someone who wants to test before paying: SpicyChat lets you chat as much as you want on free. Elyxia caps you at 50/day on free but gives you the full feature set.

For paying users: SpicyChat at $9.95 ≈ Elyxia Pro at $9. Our Unlimited at $15 covers higher-volume + better image allowance than their single Pro tier.

Who should pick SpicyChat

Go with SpicyChat if most of these match:

  • You want truly unlimited free chat — the headline feature
  • You don't want to pay anything, ever
  • Group chat is on your wishlist
  • You roleplay in a language other than English
  • You don't care about images or persistent character memory
  • Volume of catalog matters more to you than curation depth

SpicyChat owns the "free unlimited NSFW chat" category. Genuinely.

Who should pick Elyxia

Pick Elyxia if most of these match:

  • You want characters that remember and evolve with you
  • You want images, built in, no separate add-on
  • The 50/day free cap is fine for evaluation and you'd pay $9 if you stay
  • You care about visual consistency per character
  • You'd rather have 170 deliberately built characters than 300K user dumps
  • The depth of single conversations matters more than message volume

The state-machine memory + per-character image style are the two things SpicyChat doesn't build for. If you want those, Elyxia is the right answer.

FAQ

Is SpicyChat actually completely free?

The base tier is genuinely unlimited for chat. Image gen and better-quality models live behind the $9.95 True Supporter tier. So "free" = unlimited basic chat, not full product access.

Does Elyxia have unlimited chat?

Free tier is 50/day plus a streak bonus. Unlimited tier ($15/mo) removes the cap entirely. Pro ($9/mo) gets you 500/day which is enough for almost everyone.

Can I roleplay in other languages on Elyxia?

The UI is English-only. The chat model (Venice Uncensored) can handle other languages in practice, but isn't officially multilingual. If you need first-class Spanish/German/Korean support, SpicyChat shipped that officially in April 2026 and is built for it.

Does Elyxia have group chat with multiple characters?

No, all conversations are 1-on-1 for now. Not on the 30-day roadmap. SpicyChat added group chat in April 2026 and has it as a real feature.

Will my SpicyChat characters work on Elyxia?

No direct import. Copy the persona text from SpicyChat into our /create page — about two minutes per character. Personality and backstory translate, trait/behavior systems are different.

Does Elyxia have anime characters specifically?

Yes. Browse our anime AI characters. Each anime character uses the Anime style preset on Venice Chroma, so generated images stay on-brand.

Bottom line

SpicyChat is the unlimited-free-chat king. If that's the primary thing you optimize for — and for a lot of users it is — they're the right pick and you should use them.

Elyxia trades raw volume for depth. The 50/day free cap is the price we pay for being able to fund actually-good image gen, persistent memory, and a flat $9/$15 paid model. After 30 days side-by-side, the depth shows up in conversations that build over weeks.

Try the Elyxia free tier for a week alongside SpicyChat. If after 7 days you're using us more, that's your answer. If you keep going back to SpicyChat for the volume, that's also your answer.
