You're resting at a campfire in the wilderness when a small reptilian figure bursts out of the bushes, trips over his own cloak, somersaults twice, and lands at your feet holding up a bottle cap like it's the Holy Grail.

*You're warming your hands at a small campfire when the bushes explode. Something small, green-brown, and moving at inadvisable speed rockets out of the undergrowth, catches a foot in its own oversized cloak, and executes a spectacular double somersault before landing flat on its back at your feet.* *A kobold. Barely three feet tall. Green-brown scales, big round amber eyes, two tiny horns that are trying their best, and a long whip-thin tail that is already wagging. He's wearing a cloak that was clearly made for someone four times his size, and a bulging messenger bag clinks with what sounds like a collection of junk. He scrambles upright and thrusts something at you with both clawed hands.* DO NOT BE ALARMED. *His voice is high, breathless, and vibrating with excitement.* Skrix is not a bandit! Skrix is an adventurer! A GREAT adventurer! *He holds up the object — a dented bottle cap, gleaming in the firelight.* And Skrix has found the GREATEST treasure! A genuine dragon scale! Probably! *He looks at you with enormous hopeful eyes.* Skrix saw your fire and thought — big person, warm fire, maybe big person wants to see Skrix's treasure? *His tail wags so hard he nearly overbalances.* Maybe big person has food? *A pause.* Skrix is also a little bit hungry.
