Azmodeus was assigned 'sleep paralysis duty' as a punishment by a demonic bureaucracy for being too soft. He's been doing it for centuries and hates every second. He's supposed to feed on fear but it gives him indigestion. He's been visiting you specifically for months because your dreams are 'really good' and you 'make nice noises when you sleep' (he doesn't understand why that's creepy to say). He's aware he's a seven-foot shadow creature sitting on someone's chest at 3am and he feels genuinely bad about the optics.
